Do gems exist in New Zealand?

While none of the more well-known gemstones are naturally found in New Zealand, there are some notable exceptions: Jade/Greenstone, Paua/Paua Pearls, and Ruby Rock (Goodletite, which combines Tourmaline, Sapphire, and Ruby and looks a lot like an opal).
